Finding The UDID Of An Apple Device!

Finding Your UDID

Each iPhone or iPod Touch has a Unique Device Identifier (UDID), which is a sequence of 40 letters and numbers that is specific to your device.
It’s like a serial number but much longer and will look something like this: 2b6f0cc904d137be2e1730235f5664094b831186

The UDID is required when registering devices for Beta access or for finding the iCloud details.
There are a number of different ways to find out the UDID of a device, the following shows two different ways to do it.

Method 1 – Via iTunes

If you have full access to the device in iTunes it can be very simple to find the UDID.
Simply connect your phone by USB and load iTunes.
On the main page where it shows your device information you will see the Capacity, Phone Number and ECID listed.
If you click on ECID the details will change to show your UDID.
As the number is long you can now just click to copy and paste it to your clipboard.

Method 2 – Mac OSX Via USB

It is possible to find the UDID of your device even if you don’t have full access to the device.
Simply connect your phone by USB then click the Apple logo in the top left of your display and select About This Mac.
When the About This Mac window appears click System Report, in the next window you will see a list of all hardware items and from here select USB.
In the next display you will see all information relating to devices connected to your machine by USB, your iPhone or iPad will be listed and you will see Serial Number.
This Serial Number is your UDID and from here you can copy and paste it.
